THE STRATTON FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES A NEW SCHOLARSHIP FOR STUDENTS STUDYING DIGITAL MEDIA ART & TECHNOLOGY AT DETROIT’S COLLEGE FOR CREATIVE STUDIES
BIRMINGHAM, MICHIGAN, October 20, 2008 -- The Stratton Foundation, in collaboration with Bona Dea Music, is pleased to announce a new competitive scholarship for students in the College for Creative Studies Entertainment Arts
department. Students will have an opportunity to integrate their art with virtual world
technology and create computer rendered video, known as machinima. The works will be based on lyrics and music composed by Liz Larin, owner of Bona Dea Music. Students will present concepts with the winner being invited to complete the video and receive the scholarship in 2009.
The scholarship named, The Stratton Prize, is funded by a grant from The Stratton
Foundation, a private non-profit organization based in Birmingham, Michigan. The entertainment arts industry includes machinima and other digital video production, video game design, and programming. It is expected to be creating new opportunities and jobs for years to come according to the Entertainment Software Association. “We’re excited about the opportunities to support and help the talented students at the College for
Creative Studies in Detroit. Our desire is to help them realize their goals, receive an
outstanding education, and gain work related experience that will lead them to productive
careers in a growth industry”, said Douglas Stratton, president and founder of The
Stratton Foundation.
