August 9th, 2005The big album this month - well, for me at least - is "Wake Up, StartDreaming" the marvellous new CD from Liz Larin. I'm always amazed as to the amount of talent this girl has. With each new album she seems to surpass
herself, and this CD is no exception. It's been three long years since "The Story Of O-Miz", Liz's last album, and all I can say is - the wait was worth it. This body of work will have to go down as some of Liz's finest. It's certainly on a par with "Test Of Faith", her debut solo album, and probably best known work. That album contained many fine moments - as have her subsequent CDs, but this new album contains at least two bona-fide classic Liz Larin moments. The songs in question, "Alive (Conversation With An Angel)" and "Breathe", are built on gentle rhythms and packed with
emotion, making them two of the best songs I have heard this year. If those two are
the cherry on top of the cake, then the likes of "Photograph", "Frequency","Taste Of Fate" and a stunning version of Led Zep's "Going To
California" provide the jam and creamy filling! This is an almost flawless album where every song flows freely, into the next. Powerful songs - expertly delivered, that's what this album is all about. You can get the CD from Liz at www.lizlarin.com
